Whether it be for golf, beaches or dining out, there is always something for the entire family to do. Enjoy the first segment of the places to visit here in the Orihuela Costa.
Algorfa is located on the southern part of the Costa Blanca. It is one of the many citrus farming villages situated in the fertile countryside of the Segura valley. Lying between the villages of Rojales and Almoradi, Algorfa has a large administrative area but it remains a small village with only 2,900 inhabitants. If you are looking for a traditional Spanish village Algorfa is the place as it has a rich cultural heritage and the locals have a warm and welcoming nature. Located next door to Algorfa is the famous La Finca Golf Course and is considered ''Heaven'' to every golfer. The accommodations here are top class with an extremely friendly clubhouse. The course is a true paradise as it is situated not only in the mountains but also along the coast. This par 72 course, although long, is a good place for the beginner and the climate is the best in Europe.
Cabo Roig is the place to come if you are looking for a seaside holiday. Cabo Roig is situated on the Orihuela Costa section of the southern Costa Blanca, Cabo Roig is considered to be an exclusive and beautiful resort. There are two Blue Flagged beaches located in Cabo Roig for you to enjoy along with cliff walks that lead down to La Zenia. If you stay in Cabo Roig you won't be short of something to eat or do as there is a great choice of bars, restaurants and nightclubs. The popularity of Cabo Roig is exemplified by the number of people that come here year after year for the sun, sea and a taste of Spain. Cabo Roig is the sight of a 16th century watchtower used to warn the locals of an impending attack by the Barbary Pirates. Now the watchtower is part of a restaurant that looks out over the recently rejuvenated marina, what better place to come and spend your family holiday in the sun.
Campoamor is situated on the southern part of the Costa Blanca and is more famous for its golf course, the Real Club de Golf an 18 hole championship golf course. The course is surrounded by lovely forest and fruit groves which make for some beautiful scenic views. For the golfer, close by, is Club de Golf las Ramblas de Orihuela and the Villamartin Golf Course. There is more for the whole family to enjoy as Campoamor has several European Blue Flag beaches close by where you can go sailing, windsurfing, water skiing, deep sea fishing, scuba diving with all of the back up facilities required close at hand. The Campoamor area has just about anything you need in the way of shopping, bars, restaurants, nightclubs and so much more for the whole family to enjoy.
Guardamar is situated on the Costa Blanca and is surrounded by two large beautiful natural salt water lakes known as the ''Salinas de Guardamar'' and have been declared an official Spanish Nature Reserve, as a result there is a large number of species of bird life for you to enjoy. When you approach Guardamar you will notice a distinct lack of high rise skyscrapers or package holiday hotels that is because Guardamar is orientated towards families and couples. Because of this, Guardamar is not as commercialised as a lot of other coastal resorts and still retains that true taste of Spain that we all are looking for. If you have come for sun, sea and sand you won't be disappointed in Guardamar as there is a wide choice of white sandy beaches which have been awarded the European Blue Flag for cleanliness and safety. Within walking distance of the town's centre are the beaches of Guardamar Playas del Campoamor, Guardamar Moncayo, Playa la Roqueta and Playa Centro. The gentle slope of the beach into the water makes it just that much more child friendly as well as the deep sand softening those sudden falls. All in all it's just a great place for the entire family to holiday.
La Marina is a small village situated on the Costa Blanca. La Marina is a village of two parts with the newer part being located on the beach where you will find many sporting facilities with some of the widest beaches on the Costa's extending some 17 kilometres. There is also a range of shops, bars, and restaurants located here on the coast. Located one mile inland is the older town of La Marina which also has access to the beaches. Speaking of beaches, La Marina beaches have been awarded the European Blue Flag for cleanliness and safety. They are a great place to sunbath and swim or indulge yourself in something more active such as scuba diving or sailing. There is also bicycle rentals in La Marina that will allow you to explore the woods and large rolling dunes in this unique landscape. There is so much on offer for the whole family to participate in including mini golf, horse riding, quad bike trails and hot air ballooning. The night life here is interesting with light hearted bars and clubs where you can hear the sounds of live music.
La Mata is situated on the southern end of the Costa Blanca and is in close proximity to Torrevieja. La Mata is orientated toward a family lifestyle which makes it a good place to bring the whole family for a beach holiday. The beaches here have been awarded the prestigious European Blue Flag for cleanliness, safety and providing all of the required facilities for the entire family. Not only are the beaches great but there is a rather large choice of bars, clubs and top class restaurants to satisfy your every need. La Mata has managed to keep its character while developing the tourist trade and at the same time it doesn't seem to be overcrowded in the summer months. The salt lagoons around La Mata offer you the opportunity to indulge yourself by soaking up some of the beneficial medical properties they are reported to have. The Parc Natural de la Mata located near La Mata is a Spanish nature reserve that surrounds the salt lagoons which contain a number of species of bird life and can be seen from the marked trails for both walking and cycling in the park.
La Zenia is a small area on the Costa Blanca and with its location you are never far away from any entertainment. Available in and around La Zenia are beaches, dining, golf, and other types of fun, all just around the corner. The obvious thing that is available in La Zenia is the beach where you can soak up the rays, windsurf and even a bit of scuba diving. There is a restaurant facing the beach where you can just sit back and enjoy the sun while you partake in a jug of sangria and tapas. If you want to stay on dry land, why not try a round of golf as there are several championship courses within a few minutes such as Lo Romero, Club de Golf Villamartin and Real Club de Golf Campoamor. Also in the local area is horse riding, cycling and walking, there is so much on offer because you are in the middle of everything. If all else fails, Villamartin Plaza is just down the road featuring restaurants, bars and more to keep you entertained through the night.
Las Ramblas is home to Club de Golf las Ramblas de Orihuela situated in the heart of the golfing community of the Costa Blanca. The sister golf clubs of Club de Golf Villamartin and Club de Golf La Finca are a few minutes down the road. You get exactly what you would expect from a top class course, luxury, relaxation and then more golf. The course is noted for its treacherous fairways and water obstacles or if your confidence is not up to scratch then have some time on the practice facilities. If you tire of golf then the beaches of Cabo Roig or Campoamor are just a few minutes away, all of which have been awarded the European Blue Flag. Don't worry about eating out as the club house has excellent dining facilities and the surrounding area is full of top class restaurants, especially in the Villamartin Plaza.
