The sun-drenched beaches of the Orihuela Costa have so much to offer you will never be stuck for things to do. Surfing, Go-Karting, Hiking, Horseback Riding or just sunbathing are just a few of the beach activities to enjoy. The beaches span a glorious 16 km with rock faces and stunning Blue Flag beaches. In some areas you can also scuba dive, go sailing, jet skiing, windsurfing or even kayaking. Boat trips and even a bit o fishing are a must for many also.
Playa Flamenca, Punta Prima, La Zenia, Cabo Roig and Campoamor are some of the most popular beaches to visit. Most have Cheringuito's (hut's) for drinks and snacks as well lifeguards during the summer months. In fact, the Cheringuoto's have become a major part of each fun as many will have live music on during the day to enjoy while having a cold beer! There is now a stunning walk built between La Zenia beach and Campoamor making for a fantastic stroll along the beach enjoy the scenery. If you don't fancy the big well-known beaches, you can go for a walk and always find one of the small coves to have a bit of quiet time and a swim.
The Orihuela Costa is your golf paradise and is known as Costa del Golf! There is three main courses located in the Orihuela Costa and all of professional quality, Campo de Golf Villamartin, Real Club de Golf Campoamor and Las Ramblas. Each course offers and individual preference in skill for the golfer. You can choose between the easier route to play or ones for higher the higher skilled. Many consider Campoamor Golf as one of the best in the Mediterranean hosting prestigious tournaments annually although many think the oldest course, Villamartin Golf is as it hosted the 1994 Mediterranean Open which was won by Jose Maria Olazabal after an exciting play-off with Paul McGinley. Las Ramblas is well known for its narrow fairways. You can find many other courses as well within a 15 minute drive from the area. In all, it's easy to understand why golfers take their annual golf holidays to the Orihuela Costa.
Local Shopping: The Orihuela Costa has much to offer tourists when on holiday. Throughout the area there are many small centres dotted all over, each offering different styles of shopping. Flamenca Beach commercial centre is one of the largest with a large network of shops, bars and restaurants and in many of the bars free entertainment. Along the N332 there is the La Compana centre with sops and a grocery store. In Campoamor there is the La Fuente centre with a wide choice of restaurants, shops and bars as well several large grocery stores. Cabo Roig Strip is well known for its party atmosphere and shopping. On the "Strip" as it is called there is a massive choice as well as large grocery stores and the local medical clinic.
Villamartin Plaza: The Villamartin Plaza is one of the original buildings of the Orihuela Costa and is located next to the Villamartin Golf course. The "Plaza" as it is known is famous around the world. Being the only Andalucian style plazas in the southern Costa Blanca, you walk into it and know you are in an oasis! Filled with over 30 bars and restaurants centred around an open plaza filled with swaying palm trees and parrots, what better place to relax, have a drink and a meal. Zenia Boulevard: The newest in shopping to the Orihuela Costa is the Zenia Blvd shopping centre. It is the largest outdoor shopping centre in Europe and boasts over 150 shops and an untold amount of eateries and coffee stops all dotted around the centre. It features quaint squares, greenery, fountains and live music as well as entertainment or the kids. In the main square, there is a huge LED screen where sporting events are shown and sometimes lives games or kids to play! For the shoppers, it is simply heaven with every high street store to choose from. Guess, Geox, Vía di Milano (Armani, Dolce & Gabbana), Astoria (Meex, Hugo Boss, CK), Z&A (Tommy and Lacoste), to high street favourites Zara, Lefties, H&M, C&A, Primark and Massimo Dutti. There is also a huge “Alcampo” superstore, Decathlon sports shop, Media Markt and Conforama for electrical goods, an out of hours pharmacy taking care of your health and well being, and Leroy Merlin to support you with all of your DIY projects are just a few of the shops.
